A woman, Charity Olotu Fasasi, is recovering after allegedly being brutally assaulted by her husband.
The attack in Ushafa, Abuja, followed a dispute over family planning that turned violent.
A woman identified as Charity Olotu Fasasi narrowly escaped death after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband, David Fasasi Azeez, during a disagreement about family planning.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday night in Adefemi Ushafa, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, leaving the mother of four unconscious and bleeding. She was later rushed to the Ushafa Community Health Centre where she remained hospitalized for several days before regaining consciousness.
Witnesses said Charity was discovered in critical condition after her husband allegedly attacked her and fled the scene. Neighbors were the ones who intervened and took her to the hospital for urgent treatment.
Trouble was said to have started when the family planning method used by Charity failed, resulting in another pregnancy. Her husband allegedly gave her ₦5,000 to terminate the pregnancy, but the procedure led to severe bleeding. Instead of offering support, he reportedly turned violent, blaming her for the outcome and assaulting her until she collapsed.
David Fasasi Azeez is currently on the run, while Charity continues her recovery with the support of community members.
