Speaking in a recent interview on Hip TV’s Trending, Mr. Real said the decision limited the song’s potential and stalled his own career growth. According to him, if he had released the track as a solo effort, it could have placed him on the same level as stars like Wizkid and Burna Boy.

“I regret bringing Idowest into that song… I wish I had sung that song alone. If I had sung that song alone, I’d be on the same level as Burna Boy and Wizkid,” he said.

The singer also revealed that a planned remix with Wizkid was scrapped due to complications he linked to D’banj, a move he believes would have significantly boosted the track’s global success.

Legbegbe became one of the biggest Nigerian songs of 2017, catapulting Mr. Real to fame, but he maintains that decisions made during its rollout kept him from fully capitalizing on the hit.
