Actor Emelu Simon Chibuzor Recounts Harrowing Kidnap Experience in Imo State
Emelu Simon Chibuzor has recounted his 2021 abduction while filming in Imo State.
He said he was kidnapped at gunpoint, held for four days, and freed after ransom payment.
Nollywood actor and producer, Emelu Simon Chibuzor, has opened up about the terrifying moment he was kidnapped in 2021 while filming Forbidden Throne in Imo State.

The actor revealed that he was abducted at gunpoint on June 19, 2021, and held captive for four days before being released after a ransom was paid.
Recalling the incident, Chibuzor said he had gone out to buy food for his late colleague, Junior Pope, when armed men suddenly double-crossed his vehicle.
“It was in 2021 when I was filming Forbidden Throne in Imo State. I went to get food for the late Jnr Pope, and the next thing I saw was a car double cross me with the occupants brandishing AK-47s. It was like a movie set, I didn’t even understand what was going on,” he narrated.
He explained that the kidnappers blindfolded him and took him to an unknown location where he was kept in a bush with another hostage.
“They dragged me out of the car, blindfolded me, and took me away. We spent four days in the bush. On the fourth day, they told me my people had paid the ransom and that I would be released. When they finally freed me, I broke down in tears, that was when I realized I had truly been saved,” he said.
Chibuzor added that although the kidnappers did not harm him, the trauma from the ordeal still affects him deeply.
“The trauma is still there. I’m always scared, even when driving. Since 2021, I’ve been anxious about filming in unfamiliar places because of that fear,” he confessed.
The actor noted that the experience changed his outlook on safety, making him far more cautious about locations and movement while on set.
