Police in Ebonyi State have arrested Bishop Ndibueze Okorie Onyeagoziri for allegedly exploiting a woman with sickle cell disease.

He’s accused of deceiving her with a fake spiritual procedure to change her genotype.

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested the General Overseer of Champion the Truth Cathedral, Bishop Ndibueze Okorie Onyeagoziri, over allegations that he s€xu@lly exploited a 22-year-old woman living with sickle cell disease under the pretext of performing a spiritual procedure to change her genotype from SS to AA.

Reports indicate that the cleric allegedly took advantage of vulnerable female church members who approached him for help, often claiming to provide divine solutions to their problems.

Police spokesperson DSP Joshua Ukandu confirmed the arrest in Abakaliki on Thursday, stating that the suspect was in police custody while investigations continued. He explained that officers apprehended the bishop on Wednesday, October 1, and transferred him to the state command headquarters for questioning.

In a viral video, the victim explained that she had moved into the church premises on the advice of her family and the bishop so that she could receive faith-based healing for her condition. However, she said her health deteriorated instead of improving.

She recounted that the bishop convinced her that engaging in a week-long s€xual relationship with him would miraculously change her genotype. Driven by fear and desperation after losing three siblings to the same illness, she agreed to the act but later fell gravely ill. Upon informing her sister about her worsening condition, her family intervened and took her home.

The victim further alleged that the bishop threatened to release intimate photos if she left him. She later discovered that her n*de images had been circulated online.

Bishop Onyeagoziri has since denied the allegations. He claimed that his phone was stolen earlier in the month and that those who took it manipulated the photos using artificial intelligence to tarnish his reputation after failing to extort money from him.

He insisted that the images circulating online were fabricated and not genuine.
