Man Impregnates Daughter in Delta, Flees as Police Launch Investigation
A man from Otulu community in Delta State has allegedly impregnated his daughter and fled.
Activist Harrison Gwamnishu confirmed the victim is safe and receiving care as police begin investigation.
A disturbing case of incest has been reported in Otulu community, Delta State, where a man allegedly impregnated his biological daughter and has since gone into hiding.

The shocking incident was made public by Harrison Gwamnishu, founder of the Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation, who confirmed that the victim is now safe and receiving care under the organization’s protection.
According to Gwamnishu, the girl is currently staying in a temporary shelter provided by one of the foundation’s female volunteers, where she is receiving medical care, counselling, and emotional support. He said the matter has been formally reported to security authorities for investigation and possible arrest of the suspect.
“This is a heartbreaking situation that must not go unpunished. The police should do everything possible to apprehend the man and ensure he faces justice for abusing his own child,” Gwamnishu said.
Under Nigerian law, incest is a serious criminal offence punishable under Sections 214 and 390 of the Criminal Code Act, which prescribe imprisonment for up to seven years or more. If the victim is below 18 years of age, the case becomes one of defilement or rape, carrying a life sentence under Section 218 of the Criminal Code or Section 31 of the Child Rights Act.
Gwamnishu appealed to well-meaning Nigerians and organizations to support the young survivor and her unborn child through medical, legal, and material assistance.
“This case shows why the protection of children must be prioritized and offenders made to face the full consequences of their actions,” he added.
