Spyro Opens Up About Childhood Struggles and Fear of Dying Poor
Spyro has opened up about his past fears of dying poor, shaped by years of self-doubt and harsh criticism from his father.
He said faith helped him rebuild confidence and find success.
Nigerian singer Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, has shared how fear and self-doubt once made him believe he would die poor.

Speaking in an interview with veteran media personality Frank Edoho, the “Who Is Your Guy” crooner reflected on his difficult childhood and how his father’s harsh words affected his confidence and outlook on life.
“I thought I was going to die broke. I always had this fear of failure. And my dad contributed to that. He took every opportunity he got to always tell me that I am a failure,” Spyro recalled.
The singer explained that his father’s constant criticism made him internalize fear and view himself as a failure while growing up. He added that the emotional toll affected his academic performance in secondary school and even made him doubt if he could complete his university education.
Spyro revealed that his breakthrough came when he developed a personal relationship with God, which helped him overcome his fear of failure and rebuild his confidence.
He also disclosed that before achieving fame, he was close to abandoning music entirely and had begun working as an interior designer.
