Speaking during the funeral service of Nana Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, held at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) headquarters in Jos, Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her genuine concern and encouragement toward the state.

The governor said Plateau has benefited immensely from the love and care of the First Family, particularly through the First Lady’s visits and outreach efforts. According to him, Senator Tinubu has repeatedly demonstrated kindness and leadership that transcend politics, offering both comfort and hope to communities seeking peace and unity.

Describing her as “Mother of the Nation,” Mutfwang said Oluremi Tinubu has on two occasions reached out to the people of Plateau, providing moral and emotional support to leaders working to restore stability across the state. He stated that her visits were timely and have strengthened the government’s ongoing peace-building initiatives.

In a lighthearted tone, the governor added that before the APC National Chairman publicly described himself as the “First Son” of President Bola Tinubu, he had already regarded the First Lady as his mother. “Let me say this with all humility and pride she is my mother, our mother,” he said, noting that her compassion has endeared her deeply to the people of Plateau State.

Mutfwang concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to fostering unity, peace, and development, values he said align with the First Lady’s motherly spirit and the state’s identity as the “Home of Peace and Tourism.”
