The Gombe State Police Command has uncovered a cross-border kidnapping network and arrested one suspect identified as Adamu Adamu, in a major breakthrough against organized crime in the region.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, made this known during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. He said the operation, carried out by officers of Operation Hattara led by CSP Ali Madaka, resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and 80 rounds of live ammunition.
According to Abdullahi, the 30-year-old suspect, an indigene of Song Local Government Area in Adamawa State, was apprehended at Jauro Jatau Quarters in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State. Police investigations revealed that he was part of a syndicate involved in several high-profile kidnappings across Nigeria and the Republic of Cameroon.
“On October 4, 2025, at about 1700 hours, operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested Adamu Adamu in connection with multiple kidnapping-for-ransom incidents across the borders of Nigeria and Cameroon,” the police spokesperson stated.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted his role in the criminal network and disclosed that the group’s weapons were hidden in a mountainous area near Wuro Biriji Village in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Following the confession, a follow-up operation conducted on October 5 led to the discovery of two AK-47 rifles with serial numbers 05316 and 3553, 80 rounds of live ammunition, seven magazines, a chain, padlocks, a knife, and four small bags believed to have been used for their operations.

DSP Abdullahi confirmed that the suspect remains in custody as the police intensify efforts to track down other members of the syndicate. He assured that further updates would be provided as investigations progress, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to eradicating kidnapping and restoring public safety across the region.
