Tems Fires Back at Troll Over Body-Shaming Comment

Tems has had enough of the body-shaming. After a troll mocked her appearance following a U.S. performance, the Grammy-winning star fired back with bold, unapologetic tweets.

Her fierce response sparked massive support online and reignited important conversations around body image, cyberbullying, and respecting women for their talent rather than their physical features. Fans praised her for standing tall.

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has clapped back fiercely at a social media troll who made an inappropriate comment about her physique following a performance in the U.S.

Tems recently took the stage at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, where a video of her set made rounds on X (Twitter). While many admired her vocal delivery and stage presence, one user took the moment to body-shame her, writing: “Real ones know she just has big laps, not actual a**.”

Tems, clearly fed up with constant unsolicited remarks about her body, responded with a series of strong tweets addressing the years of scrutiny she has endured online.

“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up. I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird,” she wrote. “It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat. Dog, IT’S MINE. ‘Show us your bumbum’ lol so me too I will turn and say ‘see’. Nah show ME yours first?? See how that feels? It’s just a body. I will add and lose weight.”

The Essence singer emphasized that she had never concealed her body, nor did she owe anyone an explanation or justification for how she looked. She added, “The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually. But it’s enough now. Move on from my bum.”

Her response drew massive support online, with many fans applauding her confidence and calling for people to respect women beyond their appearances.

Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, also joined the conversation, tweeting: “No single sense do they have on this app. Not even half a sense,” in defense of the singer.

The moment has reignited conversations about body shaming and the objectification of female celebrities, with many urging the public to focus on talent rather than appearance.
