FCT Police Suspend Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement After Court Order

The FCT Police Command has suspended its vehicle tinted glass permit enforcement after receiving a court order.

Officials said the exercise will remain on hold until the court delivers its final verdict.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the suspension of its enforcement on vehicle tinted glass permits, following a recent court order.

Spokesperson for the Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development on Wednesday, explaining that the decision came after the police formally received a directive from the court to halt the exercise.

“Information reaching me from the office of the PRO is that the order has been received and the enforcement of the tinted permit is now on hold pending the court’s verdict,” Adeh said during an interview with AIT.

She stated that the suspension would remain in effect until the court delivers its final judgment on the matter. “We are waiting for the verdict. We are not against the courts, and we will continue to wait until we get a verdict,” she added.

Adeh further explained that the tinted glass permit was initially introduced as a security measure aimed at curbing criminal activities involving vehicles with darkened windows. According to her, several crimes had been committed using such vehicles, which made it difficult for security agencies to identify offenders.

“The law was not made by us. We are only enforcing it. The policy was designed to strengthen security and prevent criminals from taking advantage of tinted vehicles,” she said.

The Command assured residents that it would comply fully with the court order and continue to uphold the rule of law.
