Two teenagers have been shot de@d and one person injured after armed robbers attacked a barbershop in Lagos.
Witnesses said the assailants posed as customers before opening fire during the robbery.
Armed robbers have reportedly k!lled two teenagers and injured another person during a violent attack at a barbershop in the Cele Nica community of Ojo Local Government Area, Lagos State.
The victims, identified only as Chijindu and Akorede, were said to have been getting haircuts at a shop on Abengo Close when three armed men invaded the area around 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 4.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants entered the shop pretending to be customers before pulling out their weapons and ordering everyone inside to lie down. They allegedly collected cash and phones from those present before one of the attackers opened fire.
According to a resident, Duuni Olafeso, the gunmen shot the barber and the two teenagers at close range. “The injured barber said the men acted as though they wanted haircuts. They robbed them and then demanded money from Chijindu, who said he only had N1,000. One of the robbers became angry and told the others to shoot. The bullets hit all three of them, and the barber survived by pretending to be dead after being shot in the back,” she recounted.
Olafeso said Akorede died instantly, while Chijindu and the barber were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Chijindu later passed away.
The teenager’s employer, identified as Ugochukwu, who installs solar panels, said the loss was devastating. “Chijindu was one of my apprentices. We returned from a job outside Lagos that morning, and later in the evening, he went to cut his hair. I was at home when someone came to tell me he had been shot. I drove him to the hospital, but despite the doctors’ efforts, he died around midnight,” he said, describing the late apprentice as a hardworking and respectful young man.
Police authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the attack, though residents have called for increased security patrols in the area.
