Actress Tonto Dikeh says bad advice from close friends ruined her music career.
She revealed that peer pressure led her into music despite knowing she wasn’t suited for it.
Nollywood actress and politician Tonto Dikeh has revealed that negative influence from her close friends was the main reason her music career failed.
The 40-year-old actress made this known on Friday in a video shared on Instagram, where she was seen singing God is Good by Don Moen and reflecting on her short-lived music journey.
Tonto, who started making music in 2013 with songs like Hi, Crazically Fit, and Jeje, and also worked with Solid Star and Terry G, said she only went into music because of pressure from the wrong people.
“Watching this video reminds me of the time I had the worst kind of friends who pushed me to release an album,” she said. “Look sneeze/sniper and co your bedroom is been reserved in hell. Moral of this lesson: choose your friends wisely, more importantly be wise.”
She also joked about how her lack of singing ability stopped her from becoming as big as some global stars, saying:
“If I could sing ehn, una for don dey sick of me. Like you don’t even understand… who is Tiwa? Who is Whitney? Who is Cece Winans? Taaaaahhhhhhh!”
