Kano Pillars’ General Manager, Ahmed Musa, has apologized for the violent pitch invasion during their match against Shooting Stars.
He called the incident shameful and vowed accountability for those involved.
Kano Pillars General Manager, Ahmed Musa, has apologized following the violent incident that disrupted his team’s Nigeria Premier Football League match against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Kano on Sunday.

The game, played at the Sani Abacha Stadium, ended in chaos after Shooting Stars scored a late equalizer. Angry home fans stormed the pitch, attacking visiting players, referees, and match officials. Videos of the violence later went viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.
In a statement released on Sunday night, Musa expressed deep regret over the incident and took full responsibility on behalf of the club.
“I extend my sincere apologies for the unfortunate and disgraceful events that happened during our game against Shooting Stars,” he said. “It was heartbreaking, shameful, and does not reflect the values or history of Kano Pillars.”
Musa said the club has always represented community, passion, and respect, adding that violence undermines everything the team stands for. He apologized to Shooting Stars players and officials, referees, the league management, and football fans across the country who were disappointed by the incident.
“I know how painful it was to watch such scenes. I am deeply sorry,” he said.
Musa condemned all forms of violence in football, describing it as unacceptable and damaging to the sport. He assured that the club would cooperate with relevant authorities to identify and punish those involved.
“Football is meant to unite and bring joy, not cause harm. We will work with the proper authorities to hold those responsible accountable,” he added.
The former Super Eagles captain said Kano Pillars would take internal steps to ensure such an incident never occurs again.
He also appealed to fans to uphold discipline and protect the club’s reputation. “True support is shown through respect and passion, not violence,” he said. “This must be a turning point for us as a club.”
Musa concluded with another apology, pledging that Kano Pillars would act to restore public trust in the club and in Nigerian football.
“On behalf of Kano Pillars, I offer my deepest apology to everyone affected. We take full responsibility and will do everything necessary to rebuild respect and confidence in the game,” he said.
As of press time, the NPFL board had yet to issue its disciplinary decision regarding the incident.
