In a statement posted on his X account on Wednesday, Murray-Bruce said his decision was motivated by the president’s commitment to reforms aimed at reviving the economy.

“I have known President Bola Ahmed Tinubu since 1998. I know his courage, intellect, and focus on results. For the first time, we have a President who truly understands finance and sees the economy as something that must be disciplined and allowed to grow,” he said.

According to the former lawmaker, his move to the APC was “not for politics, but for progress,” adding that Tinubu’s leadership had set Nigeria on a path toward sustainable growth.

He expressed confidence that under Tinubu’s full tenure, Nigeria would experience remarkable economic transformation and reclaim its place among leading nations. “I choose to stand with that vision, with reform, and with the future,” he stated.

Murray-Bruce praised the administration’s economic and security reforms, noting that the deregulation of the petroleum sector and restructuring of the Central Bank were restoring investor confidence and stabilizing the naira.

He also commended the president’s ongoing infrastructural projects in roads, ports, and housing, describing them as evidence of a government committed to long-term development.

While acknowledging that many Nigerians were still struggling with the impact of reforms, he said such sacrifices were necessary for national renewal. “Reform is never painless, but it is in these moments of sacrifice that nations are reborn,” he added.

The media entrepreneur had earlier lauded Tinubu’s Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway initiative in May 2025, calling it a symbol of transformative leadership and a bold step toward economic expansion.
