Argentina have reached the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup final after beating Colombia 1–0 in Santiago.

Mateo Silvetti’s lone goal sealed victory, setting up a title clash with Morocco on Monday.

Argentina have advanced to the final of the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup after a narrow 1–0 victory over Colombia in Thursday’s semi-final clash at the Estadio Nacional de Santiago in Chile.

The decisive moment came in the 74th minute when Mateo Silvetti scored the only goal of the match. He connected perfectly with a cross from Gianluca Prestianni, finishing from close range to hand the Albicelestes a well-deserved win. Colombia’s chances faded late in the game after one of their defenders was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving them a man short in the final minutes.

Despite a strong attacking push from the Colombians, Argentina’s defence held firm to preserve their lead until the final whistle. The win means Argentina will play Morocco in the tournament’s grand finale on Monday, October 20.

This marks Argentina’s eighth appearance in a U-20 World Cup final. The South American side have lifted the trophy a record six times and are aiming to extend their dominance at this level of competition.

Their opponents, Morocco, made history on Wednesday by becoming the first North African country to reach the U-20 World Cup final and the third African nation overall to do so after Ghana and Nigeria. The Atlas Cubs secured their spot by defeating France 6–5 on penalties following a thrilling 1–1 draw at the Elías Figueroa Brande Stadium.

Morocco went ahead in the first half when Yassir Zabiri’s penalty took a deflection off French defender Lisandru Olmeta and went into the net. France equalised in the 59th minute through Lucas Michal, forcing the match into extra time and then penalties. The Moroccans showed composure from the spot, converting six of their seven kicks to seal a historic final berth.

France and Colombia will now contest the third-place playoff on Saturday, October 18.
