Nigerian Air Force to Shut Sections of Lagos Airport Road for Routine Fitness Exercise

The Nigerian Air Force has announced a temporary closure of parts of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Road on Saturday.

It said the closure is for a routine fitness exercise to promote officers’ health.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that parts of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Road in Lagos will be temporarily closed on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The closure is to allow the Headquarters Logistics Command to conduct its regular 10-kilometre fitness walk and jog exercise.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Abigail Ologun, the exercise will take place between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. She explained that the activity is part of NAF’s continuous effort to promote fitness, good health, and readiness among its officers and personnel.

Motorists and residents in the area have been advised to make use of alternative routes during the period of the exercise. The affected stretch runs from the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

The Command assured that adequate security and traffic arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and safe exercise. “NAF and other security personnel will be on ground to guide traffic and ensure public safety,” the statement noted.

While expressing regret over any inconvenience the temporary road closure might cause, the Air Force appealed for public understanding, adding that normal traffic movement will resume immediately after the exercise.
