Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has returned to the country after spending time abroad for medical care.

A video circulating on social media on Sunday showed the minister at Fraser Suites in Abuja, where he reportedly met with a delegation from Qatar in a private session. The meeting was said to have been attended by the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole.
Edun was earlier reported to have fallen ill and left Abuja for Lagos last Monday before traveling overseas for treatment. His return marks a resumption of official duties following his recovery.
Last week, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed that the finance minister had been unwell. Due to his condition, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, led Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings held in Washington, D.C.
Before his return, Edun was also sighted in London, where he visited the O’DA Art Gallery booth during the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair. A video shared online showed him speaking to attendees at the event.
Onanuga later confirmed the minister’s presence in the United Kingdom, explaining that Edun was on an officially approved short break to rest after months of intensive economic management.
