Adeleke Dismisses Defection Rumors, Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP Ahead of Party Convention
Governor Ademola Adeleke has denied rumors of plans to join the All Progressives Congress.
He said he remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party and its upcoming national convention.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has dismissed rumors suggesting that he plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with journalists after chairing the inaugural meeting of the Accommodation Sub-Committee for the upcoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention at Legacy House, Abuja, Adeleke said the disagreements within the party are being resolved internally.
He described the situation as “a family matter,” noting that the party leadership is united and working toward a successful national convention. According to him, all issues raised during the meeting were addressed, and preparations for the event are progressing smoothly.
On the recent wave of defections, the governor said such moves are normal in politics but would not weaken the PDP. He emphasized that the party still enjoys broad support nationwide.
Adeleke also reacted to reports linking him with the APC, saying his relationship with friends in the ruling party does not mean he is joining them. He explained that attending social functions hosted by members of other political parties is a matter of civility, not political allegiance.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, saying he serves as both Deputy Chairman of the convention and head of the Accommodation Committee. Adeleke added that the party remains focused on unity, organization, and success, expressing confidence that the November 15–16 convention will strengthen the PDP across Nigeria.
