Shettima: EFCC Recovers Over ₦500 Billion Assets Under Tinubu Administration
Vice President Kashim Shettima says the EFCC has recovered assets worth over ₦500 billion under President Tinubu.
He credited the achievement to the administration’s policy of independence for anti-corruption agencies.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has disclosed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered assets valued at more than ₦500 billion since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office. He described the achievement as a major milestone in Nigeria’s renewed fight against corruption and a testament to the administration’s resolve to strengthen accountability across government institutions.

Shettima made the remarks on Monday in Abuja during a high-level judicial workshop attended by judges and justices from various parts of the country. The event, jointly organized by the EFCC and the National Judicial Institute (NJI), focused on improving collaboration between the judiciary and anti-graft agencies in addressing complex financial crimes and ensuring efficient justice delivery.
He noted that the EFCC’s remarkable results were possible because of the Tinubu administration’s policy of non-interference in the operations of vital national institutions. According to him, granting independence to agencies responsible for fighting corruption has allowed them to perform their duties more effectively and without political influence.
“The government has deliberately ensured that our anti-corruption institutions can operate freely and professionally,” the Vice President said. “That independence has enabled the EFCC to recover assets worth over ₦500 billion and secure more than 7,000 convictions since this administration came on board.”
Shettima praised the EFCC’s commitment to transparency and its role in restoring public trust in government. He said the administration remains determined to sustain the anti-corruption momentum by empowering agencies with the tools, training, and legal frameworks needed to function efficiently.
He also commended the judiciary for its support in adjudicating financial crime cases promptly and called for continued synergy between investigators and judicial officers. According to him, the success of the anti-corruption campaign depends on the integrity, courage, and cooperation of all branches of government.
