UNILAG Bans Unapproved Skits and Video Shoots Within Campus
UNILAG has warned students, staff, and creators against filming on campus without official approval.
The university said the rule aims to protect its image and maintain order within the premises.
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has cautioned students, staff, and content creators against carrying out filming or video production within the school premises without prior approval from the authorities.

In a statement released by the Head of the Communication Unit, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, the institution said it had noticed a growing trend of people using its facilities, including hostels, lecture halls, and open spaces, for films, skits, interviews, and other video productions without official permission.
The university explained that it had set up clear procedures for individuals or groups who wish to carry out any form of recording or content creation on campus. It said these measures were designed to ensure safety, maintain order, and protect the image of the institution.
“All individuals or groups, whether students, staff, or external collaborators, who intend to shoot any content on campus must first obtain approval from the University,” the statement read. “Such requests should be directed to the Communication Unit located on the 7th Floor of the Senate House, UNILAG, Akoka.”
While emphasizing that the institution supports creativity and innovation, the management noted that all creative works must respect the school’s rules and ethical standards.
UNILAG added that it would intensify monitoring of external activities within its premises, following an increase in online content produced by students and influencers that misrepresented the university community.
The management urged everyone to comply strictly with the directive, stressing that the rules were in place to safeguard order, safety, and the collective reputation of the institution.
