Anambra Doctor Warns Against Politicizing Solution General Hospital, Anaku
A doctor has urged Ayamelum residents to stop politicizing Solution General Hospital and support its services.
He says the facility is active, saving lives, and must be protected from damaging misinformation.
A medical doctor with the Anambra State Ministry of Health, Dr. Uchenna Okafor, has urged residents of Ayamelum Local Government Area to stop politicizing the Solution General Hospital, Anaku, insisting that the facility is fully operational and providing essential healthcare services.

Dr. Okafor, who hails from Umumbo community, stressed in a public statement that the hospital was not established for political campaigns but to save lives and improve health outcomes in the area. He noted that health data from Ayamelum and neighboring LGAs show high maternal mortality rates and a significant number of patients suffering from inguinoscrotal hernia, a common health issue among farmers.
He explained that the hospital has the capacity to treat such conditions efficiently, including simple surgeries that enable patients to return quickly to their daily activities. “That is the kind of impact a functioning hospital brings,” he stated.
Expressing concern over attempts by some individuals to discourage residents from using the hospital, the doctor warned that such misinformation could weaken healthcare delivery and push medical staff away if they feel unsupported.
Dr. Okafor revealed that free surgical procedures are ongoing at the facility and confirmed that he personally carried out four surgeries on Sunday. He said the patients were recovering well and appreciated the services provided.
He appealed to political actors and residents to protect the hospital from becoming a target of propaganda, stressing that any effort to undermine the facility would ultimately harm the community.
“If a doctor comes twice to a facility and finds no patients or support, it is natural for them to return to their base and focus elsewhere,” he said. “Support it. Use it. Protect it.”
Dr. Okafor called on Ayamelum residents to put communal wellbeing above political rivalry and ensure that the hospital remains a centre of healing and care.
