Edo APC Warns Commissioners: Wear Tinubu Cap or Face Suspension
Edo APC warns commissioners to wear Tinubu branded caps during official events or risk suspension.
Party insists loyalty to the President is required as Edo targets support in upcoming elections.
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State has issued a stern warning to commissioners who fail to comply with a new directive requiring them to wear the branded “Tinubu cap” during official government activities.

The APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, said the party would not hesitate to suspend any appointee who ignores the rule. His statement follows Governor Monday Okpebholo’s instruction during the swearing-in of newly screened commissioners and the inauguration of government boards on October 14. The governor had asked members of his administration to show loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through branded clothing, including a cap associated with the President.
Tenebe said refusal to follow the directive is a sign of disloyalty to the party and the President. He insisted that respect for leadership is required from those who hold appointments through the APC.
According to him, the party in Edo State has set a goal of delivering 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu in the next election and expects every official to support that mission. He dismissed criticisms from those questioning the governor’s approach, arguing that only true party members understand the importance of unity.
“If you refuse to wear the cap as the governor has directed, we will suspend you. That is indiscipline and insubordination,” Tenebe said. He added that wearing the cap is a simple show of loyalty and support for the President.
He restated that any commissioner attending Executive Council meetings must follow the rule. In his words, “No Asiwaju cap, no Exco.”
