Tinubu Asks Senate to Confirm New Military Chiefs
President Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the newly appointed service chiefs for national security.
Lawmakers will screen the nominees next week to support ongoing defence efforts.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally asked the Senate to approve the appointments of the newly selected service chiefs. His request was read on Tuesday during a plenary session led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio in Abuja.

The list includes Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff Major General Waheedi Shaibu, Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke, and Chief of Defence Intelligence Major General Emmanuel Undiendeye.
In the letter, President Tinubu urged lawmakers to handle the confirmation quickly to support ongoing security efforts. The Senate has now referred the request to the Committee of the Whole, and screening is expected to take place next week.
