Marwa Hails NDLEA Officers for Strengthening Nigeria’s Anti-Drug War
NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa has praised operatives for intensifying Nigeria’s anti-drug fight under President Tinubu.
He said over 45,000 arrests and 9,000 convictions were recorded in 30 months.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), has commended the agency’s operatives for intensifying efforts in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Marwa gave the commendation on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, during an award ceremony in Abuja where 220 personnel received commendation letters for outstanding service, while 15 senior officers were decorated with new ranks.
He praised the officers for their integrity and courage, noting that their dedication had advanced the administration’s renewed hope agenda through progress in both drug supply and demand reduction. According to him, the agency recorded 45,853 arrests, seized over 8.5 million kilograms of illicit substances, secured 9,263 convictions, and rehabilitated 26,613 drug users in the past 30 months.
Marwa added that 9,848 sensitisation campaigns were also carried out nationwide in schools, workplaces, markets, and communities. He reaffirmed his commitment to the agency’s annual recognition program, saying it motivates officers to remain committed to their duty.
While acknowledging the achievements so far, the NDLEA boss stressed that the fight against drug abuse remains a huge challenge requiring continued vigilance and hard work.
