Peter Okoye Fires Back Amid EFCC Allegations and Royalty Dispute with Jude Okoye
Peter Okoye has broken his silence in fiery fashion, vowing to speak his truth amid a ₦1.38 billion fraud case involving his brother Jude Okoye, insisting he’s done keeping the peace.
Reacting to court claims that he lied to the EFCC, Peter took to Instagram to declare he’s no longer staying quiet, drawing strength from Mohbad’s tragic story.
Peter Okoye, one half of the legendary music duo P-Square, is done staying silent. In a heated Instagram Story posted shortly after a court hearing regarding an ongoing ₦1.38 billion fraud case involving him and his elder brother/former manager Jude Chigozie Okoye, the singer made it clear he’s had enough of the back-and-forth.
Earlier this week, during proceedings at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Jude Okoye’s lawyer accused Peter of making false claims in his statement to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The lawyer insisted Peter’s assertions, including being unaware of Northside Music Ltd’s financial operations and his statements about academic qualifications were misleading. He also questioned Peter’s claims of being denied royalties and excluded from major company decisions.
But Peter isn’t backing down.
“Exactly what I was talking about,” he wrote in his Instagram Story. “Their publicist is working overtime to make me look like a liar. I’m not May D, I’m not Cynthia Morgan, I’m PETER OKOYE, the one and only ‘THE ROCK/OKWUTE’ of the Okoyes. The truth will definitely come out.”
The artist didn’t stop there. In a follow-up post, he drew parallels to the late Mohbad’s tragic circumstances, hinting that the singer’s death inspired his shift in attitude.
“After watching everything that happened to Mohbad and how things played out, I made a decision I’ll never again be the one trying to keep the peace or act like the bigger person,” Peter wrote. “So whether you love me or hate me, I’m going to keep speaking my truth.”
Peter’s statements have since sparked mixed reactions online, with fans and followers divided some praising his courage, others urging caution. One thing’s certain: the gloves are off, and Peter Okoye is no longer holding back.
