Speaking in an interview with Punch, the “Monalisa” crooner said there were times he questioned whether anyone would ever listen to his songs, but those difficult moments helped shape him.

He revealed that during those early years, he faced sleepless nights and often wondered if his work would ever be appreciated. However, he said those challenging times taught him patience, resilience, and gratitude for every listener who supports him today.

On how he handles the pressures and expectations that come with fame, Lojay said he often takes time away from the spotlight to stay grounded and reconnect with what truly matters.

“Family, faith, and silence. Sometimes I just disappear for a bit, no music, no social media. Just time to breathe and reconnect with God and my people. That’s how I remember who I am outside the noise,” he explained.

Reflecting on his breakout hit “Monalisa” and its remix featuring American singer Chris Brown, Lojay said the collaboration made him realize that music has no limits.

“It showed me that music really doesn’t have boundaries. Chris came in with full respect for the record, he understood it, felt it, and elevated it. It made me realize that authenticity travels further than trying to sound ‘international,’” he said.

Speaking on why it took time to release his debut album XOXO, the singer said he wanted the project to reflect genuine emotions rather than rushing to put out music.

He explained that he didn’t want to release an album just for the sake of it, but instead wanted to live, feel, and gather experiences that could make the songs real and meaningful. Each track, he said, came from an honest place that reflected his personal growth.
