Davido Claps Back After APC Chieftain Says Adeleke Family Not Welcome in Party
Davido has fired back at APC chieftain Timothy Owoeye over claims that the party’s governorship ticket is off-limits to the Adeleke family, mocking the ex-speaker in a viral tweet.
The controversy stems from a recent visit by Davido, his father, and Governor Ademola Adeleke to President Tinubu, sparking defection speculations and political tension in Osun State.
Popular Nigerian singer Davido has responded to recent remarks made by All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Hon. Timothy Owoeye, who claimed the ruling party’s ticket is off-limits to members of the Adeleke family.
Newskobo.com previously reported that earlier this week Davido, his father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The meeting, which drew significant public attention, sparked various political interpretations, with many speculating about a possible defection by Governor Adeleke to the APC.
In a press conference held in Osogbo on Wednesday, June 4, Owoeye, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, voiced strong opposition to any such move. He categorically dismissed the idea of the APC welcoming the Adeleke family into its fold, stating that the party’s governorship ticket was not up for grabs by the governor or his relatives.
According to Owoeye, “The APC ticket is not for sale to the Adeleke family. At this point, we do not consider Governor Ademola Adeleke as part of our party.” He further claimed that the governor’s rumored interest in switching to the APC was driven by insecurity and fear of political uncertainty.
He added, “The APC remains the strongest political force in Osun State. If not for the fear of what lies ahead, the Adeleke family and the PDP would not be eyeing a move to our party.”
Owoeye went on to accuse the PDP of using force and irregularities to win the 2022 governorship and 2023 general elections in the state. He asserted that the tenure of the PDP government in Osun would come to an end on August 8, 2026, promising a return to APC leadership.
In response to Owoeye’s remarks, Davido took to social media to mock the former speaker. In a viral tweet, he sarcastically asked, “No be this guy naked for bush?” His cousin B-Red joined in the banter with laughing emojis, making it clear that the comments from Owoeye were being taken lightly by the family.
Davido’s retort has since sparked reactions across social media platforms, with many Nigerians weighing in on the political drama unfolding in Osun State. While the visit to President Tinubu may have been a courtesy call, the political implications continue to stir heated debate, especially within APC circles.
