Nigerian Band Leader Akiin Shuga Dies At 50
Nigerian musician Akiin Shuga, founder of the famous Shuga Band, has died at 50.
His family confirmed his passing in Canada and requested privacy as they mourn.
Renowned Nigerian musician and band leader Akinloye Tofowomo, popularly known as Akiin Shuga, has passed away at the age of 50.

The founder of the popular Shuga Band reportedly died on October 30, 2025, in New Brunswick, Canada.
His family confirmed the news in a statement released on Monday, describing him as “a revered music icon and custodian of rhythm, culture, and the spirit of performance.”
The statement added that details of his funeral arrangements would be announced later, while requesting privacy as the family mourns.
“We ask for privacy and quiet reflection at this deeply difficult time,” the family said.
Akiin Shuga, who dedicated his life to live music and entertainment, is survived by his wife, children, siblings, and mother.
