Immigration Officers Confiscate Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Passport at Airport
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan says immigration officers seized her passport and stopped her from travelling.
She alleged the order came from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, calling it a rights violation.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused immigration officials of confiscating her passport and stopping her from travelling out of the country.

The senator, who recently marked her second year in the National Assembly with the inauguration of constituency projects, went live on Instagram from the airport to narrate the incident. In the video, she questioned the officers who allegedly refused to release her passport, saying she was being unlawfully restricted from travelling.
Akpoti-Uduaghan described the action as a violation of her fundamental rights and insisted that there was no legal basis for such treatment. She claimed the officers told her the order came from the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
“This same thing happened before when I was stopped from travelling even though I had committed no offence or received any court order restricting me,” she said. “The officer in charge told me that Senator Akpabio instructed them to seize my passport and prevent me from leaving the country.”
The senator expressed disappointment that public officials could be subjected to such treatment, calling on relevant authorities to investigate the matter and ensure respect for the rule of law.
