The Service announced the action on Tuesday through an official statement shared on its verified X account, confirming that the dismissals followed a thorough review process that identified the affected individuals. The names of those dismissed have been published on the DSS official website.

According to the statement, the move forms part of a broader effort to uphold accountability and weed out officers found guilty of misconduct or violations of the agency’s operational standards. The DSS also warned the public against engaging with the dismissed individuals, some of whom are said to still be impersonating active officials.

“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the Service stated. “In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel.”

The agency emphasized that any official dealings with the dismissed officers are prohibited, urging citizens to verify the authenticity of any DSS-related transactions and report suspicious behavior. It added that members of the public can confirm the identities of the dismissed officers through the agency’s website at dss.gov.ng/media/more/4.

The DSS maintained its commitment to transparency and discipline within the Service, calling on Nigerians to reach out via its official helpline, 09088373515, or email, [email protected], for inquiries or complaints. The statement reinforces the agency’s stance on maintaining professionalism and rebuilding public trust in Nigeria’s intelligence and security framework.
