Veteran Singer Daddy Fresh Battles Life-Threatening Illness, Says He’s Been Bedridden for Over Two Years
Daddy Fresh has revealed his battle with severe illness after being bedridden for over two years.
The emotional revelation followed actor Kunle Afod’s hospital visit.
Veteran Nigerian musician, Innocent Onyebuchi, popularly known as Daddy Fresh, has opened up about his deteriorating health after being bedridden for more than two years.
The revelation came after actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod visited the ailing artist in the hospital and shared an emotional video on Facebook. Afod captioned the post, “Daddy Fresh must not die – one of Nigeria’s finest artists is in a terrible condition.”
In the video, the once-vibrant performer appeared frail and struggled to recognize Afod. Fighting back tears, he said he had been hallucinating and seeing visions due to the severity of his illness. “My kidney, my liver, neuropathy… both of my eyes have problems. I’ve operated on one, but I can’t see with it anymore,” he lamented.
He revealed that he currently needs multiple blood transfusions, as his blood level had dropped to 25 percent. “If I stand up now, I’ll fall except someone holds me,” he added, showing visible wounds on his knees from frequent falls.
Daddy Fresh also disclosed that he faces eviction from his home, having received a quit notice while bedridden. Despite his ordeal, he expressed hope that Afod’s visit signaled divine intervention.
Afod appealed to Nigerians, entertainers, and the music industry to support the legendary singer financially and emotionally, saying, “Daddy Fresh is a name we cannot forget. He needs our help now more than ever.”
