DIG Benjamin Okolo Takes Charge of Police Operations for Anambra Governorship Election
The Nigeria Police Force has appointed DIG Benjamin Okolo as Supervisory Officer for the Anambra governorship election.
He will oversee security operations and ensure a peaceful, credible, and lawful voting process.
The Nigeria Police Force has announced that Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Benjamin Okolo, has officially assumed duty as the Supervisory Officer for all police personnel deployed for the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.

A statement released on Thursday, November 6, by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed that DIG Okolo will oversee the operational strategy, coordinate field deployments, and ensure full compliance with the Force’s Rules of Engagement throughout the election.
According to the statement, DIG Okolo represented the Inspector General of Police on Monday, November 3, alongside DIG Yakubu Kwazhi, who is in charge of Operations, during the signing of the Peace Accord by political candidates and at various stakeholder engagements held in the state.
His deployment, the Force noted, is part of the Inspector General’s wider security strategy to guarantee a peaceful, credible, and professional election process across Anambra.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its readiness to protect voters, election materials, and all participants involved in the exercise. It also urged residents to cooperate with police officers and other security personnel, while maintaining peace and order during the election period.
Assisting DIG Okolo in managing security operations are AIG Akoh Benedict Gabriel, the Commissioner of Police for the Anambra Governorship Election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, PhD, as well as other Commissioners of Police assigned to the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Force further emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the democratic process and ensuring that all political actors adhere to the law before, during, and after the polls.
