Katsina LG Chairman Engages Armed Groups in Fresh Peace Talks Amid Rising Tensions
Funtua Local Government Chairman Abdu Goya has met with armed groups in Katsina to promote peace.
He urged dialogue and reconciliation between Hausa residents and Fulani fighters to end recurring violence.
The Chairman of Funtua Local Government Area in Katsina State, Abdu Goya, has reportedly held talks with armed groups accused of banditry under a renewed peace initiative.

According to reports, the meeting took place in parts of Funtua and was part of ongoing efforts to reduce hostilities between local Hausa residents and armed Fulani groups who have clashed repeatedly in the past.
Goya’s outreach is said to have centred on building mutual understanding, restoring confidence, and promoting lasting dialogue between both sides. He also appealed for the release of those kidnapped during earlier confrontations in the area.
Sources familiar with the visit revealed that the local government chairman described the engagement as a step toward deepening the peace process that had begun months earlier, stressing that only consistent dialogue can end the violence.
The visit occurred at a time of growing diplomatic tension, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent threat of possible military action and his administration’s decision to list Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” over alleged religious persecution.
