Taraba Assembly Speaker, 15 Lawmakers Defect From PDP to APC
The Taraba Assembly Speaker and fifteen lawmakers have left the PDP for the APC.
Their move makes all twenty four Assembly members APC as the state shifts politically.
The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly and 15 other lawmakers have left the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress. Those who recently joined the PDP were also part of the group that moved to the APC.

The lawmakers explained that their decision was a response to the growing crisis in the PDP at the national level. They said joining the ruling party at the federal level would help strengthen Taraba’s chances of attracting more government attention and development projects.
Their defection comes just days before Governor Agbu Kefas is expected to formally join the APC on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The development has changed the political makeup of the Assembly.
With this latest shift, all 24 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly are now in the APC, bringing the entire legislature under one party as the state prepares for a new political direction.
