TG Omori says he is now receiving threats after sharing his views on same-sex relationships.
He claims an online publication worsened the backlash and put him at risk by misrepresenting his comments.
Nigerian music video director ThankGod Omori, popularly known as TG Omori, says he has been facing threats to his safety following his recent comments on same-sex relationships.
The filmmaker shared his concern on X, saying he has been targeted since he expressed his personal view on the topic.
The controversy began over the weekend when Omori wrote on X that, “Having same gender s*x is evil,” a statement that immediately sparked wide reactions across social media. Many users criticized his stance, while others defended his right to express his beliefs.
Omori has now alleged that the backlash has intensified, especially after an online magazine published an article about his comments. He claimed the publication attempted to portray him negatively and push a narrative that could expose him to further danger. According to him, the piece made it appear as though he was using the controversy to promote his brand.
Sharing his concerns publicly, Omori wrote that the situation has put him at personal risk. He said,
“This is a media house trying to set me up and risk my life by gaslighting a global community they serve to blacklist me for speaking my truth in accordance to the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
He added that the threats became more serious after the article was released, saying,
“De@th threats and wishes have been sent to me day n night, threatening my safety n security as a citizen, since after this article was published by @Zikoko_Mag.”
The director noted that he made his statement based on his understanding of Nigerian laws and his personal convictions.
