House on The Rock Pastor Denies Gun Allegation in Trending Video

Pastor Paul Adefarasin has debunked viral claims that he pointed a firearm at a content creator, calling the allegations false and driven by online sensationalism.

The House on The Rock leader clarified during a sermon that he neither owns nor carries a gun, urging the public to resist clickbait narratives.

Senior Pastor of House on The Rock, Paul Adefarasin, has responded to a viral video that sparked outrage on social media, where he was accused of pointing a firearm at a content creator.

The video, which began circulating on Friday, June 6, shows the prominent Lagos pastor in a car that slowed near a man filming him. As the vehicle’s window rolled down, Pastor Adefarasin was seen speaking to the content creator while holding an object in his hand, an item many online users speculated was a handgun. The incident quickly ignited public debate, with many questioning why a religious leader would appear to threaten an unarmed citizen.

In the video, the content creator appeared startled and offered an apology before the pastor drove off. The footage, widely shared across social platforms, drew harsh criticism from Nigerians who expressed concern about the pastor’s conduct.

However, during a sermon at his church on Sunday, June 8, Pastor Adefarasin addressed the controversy head-on, refuting claims that he brandished a weapon.

“This is not merely an attack on a local church or a pastor,” he said. “It is part of a wider strategy by the enemy. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, wickedness in high places.”

He went on to describe the incident as a case of sensationalism fueled by individuals seeking online engagement.

“What we witnessed was simply clickbait culture at work. Their real target wasn’t me, it was the money they hoped to make off my name,” he said.

The pastor denied possessing or using a firearm, explaining: “I was falsely accused of carrying a gun and pointing it at someone who came dangerously close to my vehicle. The only barrier between us was a window and maybe less than a meter of space. I do not own or carry a firearm, nor do I have a license for one.”

Pastor Adefarasin’s clarification appears aimed at putting the matter to rest, although the video continues to stir conversation online about the ethical responsibilities of public figures, particularly those in religious leadership.
