Nollywood actress and influencer Omobolarinde Akinyanju, widely known as Ashabi Simple and wife to controversial street-hop artist, Portable, has spoken out passionately in defense of her marriage. In a recent TikTok live session, Ashabi addressed the ongoing scrutiny surrounding her relationship, tackling questions and criticisms from social media users who questioned her decision to remain with the outspoken singer despite their public disagreements. 

Ashabi made it clear that her love for Portable is genuine and deeply rooted. According to her, no amount of backlash or external pressure could influence her decision to walk away from her marriage. “I can never leave Portable, no matter what people say,” she said. “I love being in love. Sometimes, I even have to remind myself to stay calm because my feelings are real and intense.” 

The actress, who is also a university graduate and mother of two, dismissed claims that she rushed into marriage. She responded to critics by pointing out that many women older than her are still unmarried, while others who did tie the knot ended up in broken marriages. Her remarks suggested that the decision to marry is personal and should not be judged based on timelines or societal expectations. 

Ashabi also tackled rumors that her choice to stay with Portable stems from a lack of familial love or support. She firmly debunked these claims, stating that she comes from a stable and loving family background. “I’m not from a polygamous home,” she said. “Funny enough, I never thought I’d end up in one. But life happens, and here I am standing strong.” 

She emphasized that while she never envisioned becoming part of a polygamous family, her emotional connection to Portable and their shared journey has shaped her reality. Despite the chaos that sometimes surrounds their relationship, she remains confident in her decision and committed to making her marriage work.
