Portable reportedly survived a suspected knife attack near his father’s house in Ogun State.
The armed man, dressed in military-style clothing, claimed innocence as Portable confronted him in a now-viral video shared online.
Popular and controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has reportedly escaped what appears to be an attempted attack in Ogun State. The incident, which unfolded near his father’s residence, involved a man allegedly approaching the singer’s vehicle while armed with a knife.
According to Portable, the suspicious individual was dressed in a pair of military camouflage trousers and a black shirt bearing the inscription “Special Forces.” His unusual attire and behavior raised immediate alarm, prompting the singer and those nearby to act swiftly.
In a video shared on social media, Portable can be seen confronting the man, who is seated on the ground while surrounded by a small crowd. The man was accused of attempting to launch an attack on the singer but denied any such intent. Instead, he claimed to be a member of a local task force and insisted he meant no harm.
Items reportedly found in the suspect’s possession included a sharp dagger and what appeared to be a traditional charm (locally known as juju) tied around his waist objects that further fueled suspicion and concern.
Portable, visibly agitated but unharmed, questioned the man in front of witnesses, demanding an explanation for his presence and behavior. The singer warned that his life has always been surrounded by threats and strange encounters, but credited divine protection for helping him avoid danger once again.
The dramatic confrontation has since gone viral, drawing reactions from fans and social media users. While some praised Portable for staying alert and protecting himself, others expressed concern about the increasing number of security-related incidents surrounding celebrities in Nigeria.
