Benue Ready to Receive President Tinubu Says Governor Alia
Benue prepares to host President Tinubu in a symbolic visit after deadly community attack.
Governor Alia says the visit signals serious commitment to address rising insecurity in rural areas.
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has said the state is fully prepared to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his upcoming visit scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

The governor shared this through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, describing the visit as a powerful show of support for the people of Benue. He noted that the President’s decision to come, especially after the recent deadly attack in Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area, shows care and leadership. Several residents were killed in that attack, which was carried out by suspected armed herders.
Governor Alia said the President’s presence at this time shows his concern for the safety of farming communities facing regular violence. He believes the visit is an important step in tackling the insecurity that has caused so much pain and loss in the state.
“This visit shows that the President is ready to take action to restore peace and protect the lives of our people,” the governor said. “We see this as more than just a visit. It is a chance to have a direct conversation with the President about the urgent help our communities need.”
Governor Alia also emphasized that Benue, known as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” deserves peace and stability. He added that the people of the state look forward to working with the federal government to end the ongoing violence and restore normal life in affected areas.
