Governor Aiyedatiwa assures support as both parties target lasting growth and shared prosperity.
In a bold step toward international collaboration and economic revitalization, the Ondo State Government has entered into a strategic partnership with the Czech Republic. This alliance is aimed at accelerating economic development, promoting technological exchange, and strengthening diplomatic ties between the European country and the South-Western Nigerian state.

The groundbreaking partnership was announced on Tuesday during the official visit of the Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Zdenek Krejci, to the Ondo State Government House in Akure. The meeting, hosted by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was attended by officials from both governments as well as prospective global investors and business leaders.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, while welcoming the ambassador and his delegation, emphasized the readiness of his administration to work closely with the Czech Republic in several areas, particularly in trade, investment, technology, and agriculture. He assured the envoy of the state’s commitment to creating a secure and business-friendly environment for both local and foreign investors.
“We are open to collaborations that will enhance our economic and technological capacities,” the governor stated. “My administration is committed to providing the right political and economic climate for businesses to thrive. We have ensured that the legal frameworks supporting business and investments are robust, and we will continue to support every genuine effort to grow our economy and create opportunities for our people.”
He added that Ondo State possesses a wealth of untapped resources and potentials that are ripe for international partnerships, noting that the state was ready to welcome new investors who are serious about contributing to its long-term development.
In his remarks, Ambassador Zdenek Krejci described the Czech Republic as a country with a rich industrial history and global recognition in the manufacture of machinery, especially for agricultural use. He explained that his country is keen on extending its technical expertise and industrial solutions to Africa, with Nigeria and particularly Ondo State, serving as a promising entry point.
“The Czech Republic has maintained a tradition of industrial excellence since the 19th century, especially in engineering and machine production,” he noted. “We are very strong in producing agricultural machinery and have developed advanced technologies in construction and renewable energy. These are sectors where we believe we can collaborate effectively with Ondo State.”
Krejci commended the Ondo State Government for its governance structure, rich natural resources, and demonstrated political will to engage in sustainable development. He further expressed confidence that the emerging alliance would bring about shared prosperity for both parties.
“We see Ondo State as a gateway to broader economic cooperation within Nigeria and West Africa. With your state’s commitment to good governance and economic transformation, we are optimistic that this partnership will deliver tangible results in the areas of agriculture, technology, and infrastructure,” the ambassador stated.
He added that this cooperation would not only strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Czech Republic but also open new investment channels that would benefit the local population.
The visit and engagement mark the beginning of what both parties hope will be a long-term partnership focused on inclusive growth, capacity building, and mutual prosperity. The Ondo State Government has since reiterated its willingness to facilitate follow-up engagements to ensure the successful implementation of proposed projects.
