Mbappe Hospitalized During Club World Cup
Kylian Mbappe has been hospitalized with gastroenteritis, missing Real Madrid’s Club World Cup opener.
His return remains uncertain as the team prepares to face Pachuca in their next group match.
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been taken to the hospital after falling ill during the ongoing Club World Cup. The French star missed the team’s first match on Wednesday due to his condition, and it has now been confirmed that he is suffering from gastroenteritis.

In a statement released by the club on Thursday, Real Madrid revealed that Mbappe was admitted for medical observation and treatment. The illness, commonly known as a stomach bug, often leads to symptoms like vomiting and diarrhoea.
“Our player Kylian Mbappe is suffering from an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been admitted to hospital in order to undergo a series of tests and follow the appropriate course of treatment,” the club said.
Following the team’s 1-1 draw with Al-Hilal, manager Xabi Alonso was asked about Mbappe’s status. He explained that it was too early to say if the forward would return in time for their next match.
“We’ll have to see how he feels. The last day he went through significant viral issues, so we’ll have to wait and assess closer to the game,” Alonso told reporters.
Real Madrid’s next match is against Mexican side Pachuca on Sunday. They will wrap up the group stage with a game against Red Bull Salzburg on June 26. The team will be hoping for both an improved performance and the return of their star player as the competition progresses.
