Victor Osimhen Recalls Earning N30 Cleaning Gutters

Super Eagles star shares emotional story of tough childhood, sparking praise for his resilience.

Fans react to Osimhen’s journey from menial jobs in Lagos to global football stardom.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has opened up about his challenging upbringing, revealing that he once washed algae-filled gutters for as little as N30 to survive.

During an emotional interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen recounted how he took on various menial jobs in his youth to help support himself and his family. One of his regular tasks involved fetching water for neighbors living in a nearby face-me-I-face-you building for just N80. He added that some days, he would clean slimy gutters filled with spirogyra for N30.

“There was a building in front of my house, this kind of face-me-I-face-you. I used to fetch water for the people there for N80, and most times, I’d wash gutters when the green things (algae) are coming out,” Osimhen recalled.

The story of his early hustle has inspired an outpouring of emotional reactions from fans on social media, many of whom expressed gratitude and admiration for the footballer’s resilience.

Victor Osimhen’s rise from the streets of Lagos to the global football stage serves as a powerful reminder of perseverance and humility.
