Federal Government Opens Recruitment for Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire, and Correctional Services

The Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has launched a nationwide recruitment campaign, calling on eligible Nigerians to apply for vacant positions in four major paramilitary agencies: the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
According to an official statement posted on the board’s recruitment portal, the exercise is open to candidates who meet the outlined criteria and are ready to serve in any of the listed agencies under CDCFIB supervision.
The recruitment is categorized into three main cadres: Superintendent Cadre, Inspectorate Cadre, and Assistant Cadre, each with specific educational and professional requirements.
Superintendent Cadre (General Duty):
- Superintendent of Corrections (CONPASS 09): Open exclusively to the Nigerian Correctional Service, this role is designated for candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery.
- Assistant Superintendent I (CONPASS 09): Available only within the Federal Fire Service, this position is open to applicants with degrees in Engineering or Law.
- Assistant Superintendent II (CONPASS 08): Open to graduates with either a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in any field. This opportunity is available across all four services.
Inspectorate Cadre:
- Senior Inspector of Fire (CONPASS 08): Targeted at Registered Nurses, Midwives, or Nurse-Midwives. Positions are open in the NSCDC, FFS, and NCoS.
- Inspector of Fire (CONPASS 07): Requires candidates to hold a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a National Diploma in relevant disciplines.
Assistant Cadre:
- This cadre is mainly open to candidates with secondary school education, trade skills, and driver certification.
- Assistant III (CONPASS 03): Requires five O-Level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- Applicants for driver, artisan, or mechanic positions must possess a valid Trade Test certificate and necessary driving or technical licenses.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for any of the roles, applicants must:
- Be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
- Have a minimum height of 1.65 meters for males and 1.60 meters for females.
- (For males) have a chest measurement of at least 0.87 meters.
- Possesses no criminal record or history of financial misconduct.
- Be medically fit and submit a certificate of medical fitness issued by a government-recognized hospital.
The board emphasized that multiple applications will result in automatic disqualification. As such, candidates are urged to apply only once and ensure all personal information is accurate and verifiable.
