Suspected bandits have reportedly taken over Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, leaving residents in fear and calling for immediate government intervention. The attackers, said to be led by a notorious figure known as Babaro, have allegedly killed several people and stopped all farming activities in the area.
A security analyst who uses the handle @Bakatsine on X (Twitter) raised the alarm on the platform. He claimed the attackers have established full control from Marabar Kankara to Yantumaki. According to him, many residents have been killed or kidnapped, while access to healthcare has collapsed.
“BREAKING: Bandits led by feared warlord, Babaro seize control of Kankara LGA, Katsina State. Farming banned from Marabar Kankara to Yantumaki, dozens killed/kidnapped, healthcare collapsed. Residents beg Gov Dikko Radda & FG for urgent intervention,” his post read.
Kankara has been known as a hotspot for bandit attacks and abductions. At the time this report was prepared, government officials had not issued any statement regarding the development.
