Tinubu to Visit Saint Lucia for Official Duties and Vacation

President Tinubu will embark on a Saint Lucia visit blending diplomatic talks with personal retreat.

The trip aims to boost Africa-Caribbean ties through shared heritage, culture, and economic cooperation.

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart Nigeria on June 28 for a visit to Saint Lucia, where he will attend official engagements and also spend time on a private vacation.

Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister, Philip J. Pierre, confirmed the planned visit during a pre-cabinet press briefing, as reported by the St Lucia Times. Tinubu’s official activities are slated for June 30 and July 1, while the remaining days will be dedicated to rest and personal time.

Prime Minister Pierre described the trip as a significant opportunity to deepen relations between Africa and the Caribbean, noting the cultural and historical ties shared with Nigeria.

“This visit marks a historic occasion to strengthen ties between Africa and the Caribbean,” Pierre said. “Nigeria, being a key part of our ancestral heritage, makes this engagement particularly meaningful. It reflects our commitment to building enduring and strategic partnerships.”

Pierre also extended invitations to leaders of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to participate in the official events, which will feature high-level discussions. OECS member nations include Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The dialogue is expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as economic development, education, infrastructure, and diplomatic ties.
