“You Can’t Outdo God”, Actor Okon Advises Men Against Losing Themselves to Impress Women
Nigerian actor Bishop Umeh, aka Okon, has set the internet abuzz with a viral TikTok video urging men to stop losing themselves trying to meet women’s beauty expectations.
Using humor, he called out the ever-changing beauty trends, warning that no man should attempt to outshine what even God hasn’t satisfied.
Nigerian comic actor Bishop Umeh, popularly known as Okon, has sparked widespread conversation online following a viral TikTok video where he advised men to stay true to themselves rather than trying to impress women at all costs.
In the video, Okon humorously but pointedly warned men not to lose their identity or self-worth while trying to meet women’s ever-changing beauty standards. Using the 48 Laws of Power as a reference, Okon said, “One of the 48 laws is, never try to outshine your master.”
Using a satirical tone, the actor listed numerous beauty enhancements women undergo, suggesting they reflect a persistent state of dissatisfaction. According to him, attempting to keep up with such changes is not only futile but akin to trying to outperform God.
“If the hair is coily, they straighten it. If it’s straight, they curl it,” he began.
“If it’s black, they dye it white. If it’s white, they dye it black, even pink at times.
“Eyebrows? They shave them off and draw new ones.
“Eyelashes? They fix artificial ones over the natural.
“Small lips? They go for surgery.
“Big chest? They reduce it. Small chest? They add implants.
“No backside? Implants. Too much? They reduce it.
“Dark skin? Bleaching. Fair skin? Tanning.”
Concluding his message, Okon said, “If God that created them hasn’t satisfied them, how do you think you can? You, an ordinary man, want to outdo God? You’re setting yourself up for disappointment.”
The clip has sparked a flurry of reactions across social media, with viewers both supporting and critiquing his perspective. Many praised the honesty in his message, while others questioned the generalization.
