Oga Bello Explains Why He Won’t Leave Properties for His Children

Oga Bello says he won’t leave properties for kids, calls education their true inheritance.

Veteran actor reveals focus on academics over wealth, urges children to chase excellence.

Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, has shared why he has chosen not to leave material possessions or properties for his children.

In a recent interview with the Nigerian Tribune, Oga Bello revealed that he considers education the greatest inheritance he could give his children.

Married to two wives and father to 18 children, Oga Bello explained that he made a deliberate choice early in life to invest his resources in ensuring his children received quality education instead of focusing on acquiring wealth or properties for them.

“I don’t want to leave any properties for my children. I just need two houses, one in Lagos and one in my hometown. If you meet any money in my account, share it. I’m passionate about education,” he said.

Reflecting on his upbringing, he disclosed that he lacked parental support in his own academic journey, and that experience deeply influenced how he approached fatherhood.

“Even if it’s just a first degree, I wanted all my children to be educated,” he added.

The seasoned actor, who began his career in 1964 with the Young Concert Party led by the late Baba Mero, also stated that he never imposed a career in entertainment on any of his children. Instead, he allowed them to pursue their interests, as long as they maintained strong academic performance.

“I didn’t bring or force them to the industry. Whenever I was going for rehearsals and they wanted to follow, I would say no, except they had good results in school. That made them work hard,” he explained.
