Ten Killed in Renewed Attacks Across Plateau Communities
At least ten people have been killed in fresh attacks across two Plateau communities between Friday and Saturday.
Armed men reportedly invaded Kwi and Pushit areas, leaving residents in fear and mourning.
At least ten people have been confirmed dead following separate attacks in two local government areas of Plateau State between Friday and Saturday, November 1, 2025. The incidents, which occurred in Kwi community of Riyom Local Government Area and Pushit community of Mangu Local Government Area, have reignited fears of renewed violence in the region.

According to reports, suspected armed men invaded Kwi community on Friday night, leaving seven people dead and several others injured. The attack, which caught residents unaware, forced many to flee their homes in search of safety. Community sources said the gunmen also destroyed houses and looted valuables during the assault.
A community leader, Rwang Tengwon, confirmed the attack and attributed it to suspected Fulani militia. He explained that the killings in Kwi were followed by another round of violence on Saturday, claiming two more lives. “Kwi community was attacked on Friday by suspected Fulani militia, and seven persons were killed. One person was also killed on his farm Saturday afternoon, and another attack happened later that night,” he said.

In Pushit community, located in Mangu Local Government Area, three people were reportedly killed in a separate incident. The Mwaghavul Development Association, in a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Friday Derwan, condemned the killings and called on security operatives to act swiftly.
“We call upon security operatives in our local government area and Plateau State to rise to the challenge of curbing these unwarranted assaults on innocent lives,” the association stated.
Residents of both communities have appealed for immediate intervention from the government, noting that repeated attacks have devastated farmlands and displaced families. Many villagers now live in fear of further violence, as tension remains high across affected areas.
Although security agencies are yet to release an official statement on the attacks, local vigilante groups have reportedly intensified patrols to prevent more casualties. The recent killings add to the growing list of violent incidents in Plateau State, where recurring clashes between herders and farming communities continue to threaten peace and stability.
Community leaders have urged both federal and state authorities to step up efforts in protecting rural dwellers and bringing perpetrators to justice, warning that continued silence could lead to further unrest across the region.
